New Elementary School Welcomes Students

A ribbon cutting ceremony was set for 8 a.m. at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church in Palm Desert.

The Academy of will welcome 115 elementary and preschool students Monday morning.

The elementary school came about following the that St. Margaret's Episcopal Church would be closing its school for grades 1-8.

Parents and students, as well as the church's clergy, faculty and staff, are expected to attend the 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29 ribbon cutting.

"We wanted to signify our first day of uniting our new school,'' said Tina Maize, the school's admissions officer for grades 1-5.

Many of the faculty from St. Margaret's now teach at The Academy, Maize said.
