New Sports Park To Be Built In Mecca
The new Mecca Regional Sports Park will be located next to the Mecca Boys & Girls Club.
MECCA, CA — Construction for the new Mecca park will begin at the end of April, it was announced Wednesday.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on April 30 at the site of the new Mecca Regional Sports Park, which will be located next to the Mecca Boys & Girls Club.
On Tuesday, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted to move the project forward, and agreed to a construction contract that was awarded to Three Peaks Corporation of Calimesa.

The 6.67-acre park will feature multipurpose fields and walking paths with lighting, multiple playgrounds, a splash pad, sand volleyball courts, workout stations and a lighted kiosk, according to the office of Supervisor Manuel Perez.
The project, led by the Riverside County Facilities Management Department, is estimated to cost $6.7 million paid for mainly through a $5.8 million state grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

Construction is expected to take eight months to complete, with the goal of opening in December.
