RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The slap seen around the world will likely not be repeated when Chris Rock comes to Riverside County next month to perform a show at Indio's Fantasy Springs Resort.

The one-night April 8 appearance is part of the "Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour 2022," which is set to kick off Wednesday evening in Boston. Ticket companies have reported booming sales for the tour, which is scheduled to conclude at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood — site of the Oscars — on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18. Ticket information for the Fantasy Springs show can be found here.

As of Wednesday morning, Rock had yet to publicly address the incident at Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony in which actor Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped Rock in the face as the comedian was presenting the award for best documentary.

Smith struck Rock then twice cursed at him during the live ceremony in response to a joke the comedian made about the actor's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Smith took to Instagram Monday evening to apologize.

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable," Smith said in an Instagram post. He added: "I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

During Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony, Smith accepted an Oscar for his work in “King Richard," a biographical sports drama feature-length film that follows the life of Richard Williams, the father and coach of professional tennis players Venus and Serena Williams. Smith played the sisters' father.

The actor tearfully apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees for his outburst, but he didn't mention Rock by name.

According to reports, police confirmed Monday that Rock has declined to file a complaint against Smith.

The Academy is reportedly mulling the "appropriate action" to take following the incident that “overshadowed” a celebration of the film industry.

The 94th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, honored the best films released last year between March 1 and December 31. The ceremony was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.
