Nominations Sought For 'Green Citizens' Awards: Palm Springs

The Palm Springs Sustainability Commission would like to advise the community nominations are now open for the 2020 “Green Citizen” and “Green Student” Awards. These awards will recognize one adult and one student (K-12) who demonstrate exemplary sustainability practices in our community.

Nominees must live in Palm Springs and must show excellence in green living or have made a significant contribution to the overall sustainability of our City. Accomplishments for citizens and students should be focused on work done outside normal business activities or coursework and address a variety of topics such as resource conservation, habitat protection, energy efficiency and natural resource use reduction, education and advocacy, and environmental leadership.
Honorees will be selected by City staff and members of the Palm Springs
Sustainability Commission. One adult and one student will be chosen as an overall winner. In addition, the City may decide to recognize other individuals for outstanding contributions based on the submissions received.

The “Green Citizen” and “Green Student” Award winners will be announced on Earth Day – April 22, 2020 – and recognized at a subsequent meeting of the Palm Springs City Council.
Applications are available on the City’s website at www.yoursustainablecity.com and are due at 5 p.m. on March 16.
