The 2012 London Olympics officially get going on Wednesday as the U.S. takes on France in opening round of women's soccer.
The spectacle of the Opening Ceremonies takes place on Friday and can be watched locally on KMIR6 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Local eyes should be watching for former Desert Hot Springs resident Sarah Robles as she battles not only the world, but Madelung's deformity, a deformity of the forearm. Robles will be competing in the Women's +75kg/+165lbs Weightlifting competition.
