Palm Desert Calls On SoCal Graphic Design Students To Create New City Seal
Up to three student or recent grad finalists will win a $500 honorarium and the opportunity to refine their design.
PALM DESERT, CA — The deadline is nearing for a unique opportunity for Southern California graphic design students and recent graduates to design Palm Desert's new city seal.
The city is calling on students or degree holders who graduated within the last two years to compete for the seal by submitting their designs by Aug. 19 at 11:59 p.m.
The original city seal was created in 1973 and symbolized the community's "early identity," according to a news release from the city.

"Today, the City is seeking a design that reflects our growth, culture, and modern vision," the release reads. "This project invites the next generation of designers to create a refreshed emblem—one that is simple, clear, and enduring, and that can represent Palm Desert for the next 50 years."
The new seal would become the city's official government graphic identity. It would appear on official documents, signage, digital platforms and more.
