Palm Desert Girls Soccer Is In, Xavier Prep Is Wild Card
The Saints made the CIF Division 5 playoffs as an at-large team and will play a wild card game Tuesday,

While Palm Desert High School’s girls soccer team knew it would make the CIF Division 5 playoffs, Xavier Prep wasn’t so sure.
To the Saints’ delight, they found out Monday when playoff pairings were announced that they will play in the post-season as well. Xavier Prep earned an at-large berth to the playoffs from the Desert Valley League, but will have to win a wild-card game at Mammoth Tuesday at 3 p.m. to advance to the first round. A victory would send Xavier Prep into a first-round matchup at Ambassador League champion Ontario Christian on Thursday.
Palm Desert’s second place finish in the Desert Valley League earned it a home game in Thursday’s first round. The Aztecs will play host to Rialto Carter, the No. 2 team in the San Andreas League.
Second round games will be played on Feb. 22. The Division 5 championship game will be held on either March 4 or 5.
