Palm Desert Golf Tournament Aims to Raise Money for Cancer Fight

The annual tournament helps local cancer patients and their families.

The three-day 21st annual “A Round for Life” fundraiser for the Desert Cancer Foundation concludes today with the nine- and 18-hole “Battle Against Breast Cancer” invitational golf tournaments at Indian Ridge Country Club in Palm Desert.

Organizers hope to raise $500,000 from the fundraiser, which began Sunday with a gala with Baseball Hall of Fame member Johnny Bench serving as master of ceremonies.

A pro-am golf tournament was held Monday.

The Desert Cancer Foundation offers financial assistance to people fighting the disease, helping pay insurance premiums, deductibles, prescriptions and other costs.
