Palm Desert High School Shooting Rumors Unfounded, According to School District

Desert Sands Unified officials sent messages to parents via telephone and social media dismissing the rumors.

PALM DESERT, CA – Rumors regarding a shooting planned at Palm Desert High School are unfounded, school district officials said Thursday. Following reports that a student or students planned to carry out a shooting at the campus Friday, Desert Sands Unified officials sent messages to parents via telephone and social media dismissing the rumors.

A Riverside County sheriff's investigation was conducted into the claims, which turned up no evidence of plans to carry out a shooting, DSUSD officials said.

"We remain vigilant in our duty to protect our students and will always follow through on any report of possible school violence," a district statement issued Thursday said. "In this case, the rumors were unfounded."
