Palm Desert High’s James Dockery Inks Deal With NFL’s Cleveland Browns

Former Aztec and Oregon State cornerback surprises many by signing with the Browns.

James Dockery is moving to the NFL.

The former Palm Desert High and Oregon State cornerback announced via twitter on Tuesday morning that he has agreed to a contract with the Cleveland Browns. 

“As I've Learned in these last 2 days nothing is final till its final, I'am Sorry for the miscommunication that has been out there. However my family and I have decided that Stl is not the best fit for me! with that in Mind, I'll be taking my "Talents" to The Cleveland Browns !!!!! Lets Go Dawg Pound..Thats Official!!!!” Dockery said in multiple posts.

With the NFL lockout over, teams were allowed to sign undrafted free agents like Dockery as of Tuesday morning. Dockery plans to report to training camp on Wednesday.

Dockery had previously alluded to a contract agreement with the St. Louis Rams, posting Monday night “Verbal Committment nothing solid till the ink hits the paper but that BLue and Gold does look nice!” referring to the Rams' team colors.

Other reports had Dockery considering an offer from the Baltimore Ravens.
