Palm Desert Pawn Shop Clerk Pepper Sprayed, Robbed By Woman

The midday assault and robbery took place at Palm Desert's Pawnshield Fine Jewelry & Loan​.

PALM DESERT, CA — A woman and her getaway driver were arrested Wednesday after she pepper sprayed and robbed a clerk at Palm Desert's Pawnshield Fine Jewelry & Loan, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Jennifer Andrews, 36, of Yucaipa, and Richard Gonzales, 28, of San Bernardino, were caught not long after the 12:34 p.m. Technology Drive robbery.

According to the sheriff's department, Andrews entered the pawn shop, pepper sprayed the clerk and fled with jewelry.

As deputies were responding to the scene, a vehicle was spotted fleeing the scene. Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station were able to stop the vehicle, and a search turned up pepper spray and jewelry from the store, according to the sheriff's department.

Andrews and Gonzales were booked into county jail in Indio on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime.
