Palm Desert's Public Art Documentary Film Series continues on Thursday, March 15 with a free screening of 'Electric Earth: Doug Aitken.'

From the City of Palm Desert: Palm Desert’s 2018 Public Art Documentary Film Series continues on Thursday, March 15 with a free screening of Electric Earth: Doug Aitken.

This Artbound episode explores the life and work of visual artist Doug Aitken and the installation of his “Underwater Pavilions,” interactive sculptures installed underwater in a marine dive park at Catalina Island. Matthew Crotty, Director of Production for KCETLink, will lead a discussion of the film following the screening.

The popular series of free public art-themed documentary films concludes on April 19 with Brillo Box (3¢ Off).

The documentary film series is presented by the City of Palm Desert Public Art Department and the University of California, Riverside Palm Desert Graduate Center. Films screen the third Thursday of the month, January through April, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at UCR Palm Desert, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive. Each screening will include a featured speaker who will answer questions about that night’s film. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended.
