Drivers should exercise caution as the new traffic control measures are put in place, according to the city spokesperson. Delays may be possible, and alternate routes are suggested.
Coachella Valley Water District road crews are adding to the nonpotable water irrigation pipeline project on Hovley Lane East, the city of Palm Desert reported over social media. The work will not be fully completed until the end of the year.
According to the district, just over 17 golf courses use a nonpotable blend of recycled water and Colorado River water for irrigation. Still, 36 golf courses use solely Colorado River water to maintain greens, importing water from the Coachella Canal. When the project is complete, more than 40 golf courses on or near Hovley Lane East will be converted to the water district’s non-potable water system. Meanwhile, the laying of the new pipe necessitates periodic lane or road closures, such as the current project, officials said.
