Palm Desert Students Give Back

Palm Desert Charter Middle School students volunteered more than 4,500 hours this past school year.

Palm Desert Charter Middle School students volunteered over 4,500 hours between October to May.

The students are required to complete eight hours of community service as part of the Environmental Service Learning Project in Ms. Ginny Foster’s Health Science Class.

The project requires “students be of service to people, animals, and/or the environment,’’ according to Foster.

Students volunteered their time at senior centers, nursing homes, local schools, pet stores and animal shelters, she said.

Several students raised money through recycling and then donated the money to Jared Boxes and sent supplies to troops overseas.

Students also participated in the Trash for Cash program on campus, which prevented 63,654 pieces of trash from going into landfills.
