Palm Desert's Free Spring Concerts Kick-Off Thursday
Festival season might be over, but music lovers can still enjoy live performances under the desert sky every Thursday throughout May.

From the City of Palm Desert: Festival season might be over, but music lovers can still enjoy live performances under the desert sky every Thursday throughout May with the return of Palm Desert’s free Spring Concerts in the Park. The excitement kicks off at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, May 3, at the Civic Center Park Amphitheater with a performance by 70s and 80s hit makers Ambrosia.
Ambrosia, which has been nominated for multiple Grammy awards, had five Top 40 hit singles released in the late 1970s and early 1980s including "How Much I Feel," "Biggest Part of Me," and "You're the Only Woman (You & I)." The band tours internationally and has worked with a variety of stars in music and literature including Leonard Bernstein, Alan Parsons, Bruce Hornsby, Michael McDonald, and Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
On stage from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Thursday in May, Palm Desert’s free Spring Concerts lineup features talented musical acts designed to please music lovers of all ages and tastes. Other concert series performances include Tom Petty tribute band The PettyBreakers (May 10), Americana/bluegrass from Dead Winter Carpenters (May 17), Motown and R&B from the Blue Breeze Band (May 24), and Indie-folk from All Our Exes Live in Texas (May 31). The City extends its thanks to the Desert Recreation District for its support of this year’s May Concert Series.

The kick off of Spring Concerts also means the return of food trucks to Civic Center Park. Concertgoers are encouraged to sample the trucks’ mouthwatering mobile culinary creations or bring picnic baskets along with their blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the shows. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited.
