Palm Springs International Film Festival Schedule: Week 2

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Dozens of film screenings are scheduled at several local venues today as the 31st annual Palm Springs International Film Festival enters its first full week.

This year's screening lineup features 188 movies from 81 countries, including 51 premieres.

Films will be shown from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Annenberg Theater, Palm Springs Cultural Center, Palm Springs High School, Regal Cinemas, Palm Canyon Theater and Mary Pickford is D'Place.

The Brazilian and French film "Bacurau,'' which follows the citizens of the mysterious rural Brazilian village of Bacurau as they mourn the passing of their matriarch, begins at 9 a.m. at Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs.

"Wet Season,'' a film with roots in both Singapore and Taiwan, tells the story of a teacher who finds solace in a deep bond she develops with one of her students, and wraps up the evening at 8:30 p.m. at Mary Pickford is D'Place in Cathedral City.

The festival runs from Jan. 2 to Jan. 13.
