Palm Desert survived a four-run rally from Pasadena/LaSalle to advance in the CIF baseball playoffs with a 5-4 road win on Tuesday.
The #1 seeded Aztecs scored three times in the first inning, thanks to LaSalle's own miscues: a two-base error, a balk, and a wild pitch.
With the win, Palm Desert advances to the Division 4 quarterfinals on Friday. The Aztecs will host Freeway League champion Sonora (22-8 overall) at either La Quinta or Shadow Hills High.
