Proposed 156-Acre Salton Sea Marina: Meeting Videos Released
The proposed state-funded marina aims to provide a deep-water reservoir and species habitat, as well as a recreational lake.
SALTON SEA, CA — Residents who want to learn more about the proposed $19.25 million 156-acre marina at the north end of the Salton Sea can watch a recent community outreach meeting about the project and stay tuned for more sessions to come.
Over 100 community members joined a Zoom meeting Saturday to learn about the North Lake Pilot Demonstration Project — the first community outreach meeting for the future Salton Sea project. The meeting included remarks by Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, State Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, Coachella Valley Water District Board Vice President Cástulo Estrada, Salton Sea Authority Executive Director/GM G. Patrick O’Dowd and Riverside County Chief Operating Officer Juan C. Perez. More than 30 questions were presented during the two-hour discussion.

Riverside County, the Salton Sea Authority, and the California Department of Water Resources are partnering on the project that could see work begin by the end of 2022.

Riverside County has launched a webpage for the project at https://rivco.org/community/salton-sea-north-lake-pilot-demonstration-project.
More community outreach meetings will be held, with the goal of planning in-person meetings in the communities surrounding the Salton Sea. The next meeting is anticipated in two to three months and will be announced and posted on the project webpage.
