Update: Rancho Mirage High School Locked Down Over Shooting
A shooting victim was found on Ramon Road.

Rancho Mirage High School was locked down for more than an hour this morning while police searched for a suspect in a shooting that occurred near the campus.
The shooting was reported about 10 a.m. and police found the victim on Ramon Road, between Da Vall Drive and Rattler Road, sheriff’s spokesman Armando Munoz said.
The wounded person, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s investigators detained a “person of interest” and were questioning the unidentified individual to determine if there was a connection to the shooting, Munoz said.
Rancho Mirage High School was locked down while sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Cathedral City Police Department and the California Highway Patrol searched the surrounding desert area.

Deputies also canvassed the campus at 31001 Rattler Road and determined there was no danger to students or staff.
The lockdown was lifted about 11:30 a.m.
