Registration Opens For 'Paint El Paseo Pink' Walk In Palm Desert
The Palm Desert walk will take place Oct. 8 with funds raised at the event supporting Coachella Valley cancer patients.
PALM DESERT, CA — The 16th Annual Paint El Paseo Pink walk is ready to go, and on Wednesday event officials confirmed a date.
The Palm Desert walk will take place Oct. 8 with funds raised at the event supporting Desert Cancer Foundation's efforts to provide financial assistance to Coachella Valley residents with treatment for all cancer types.
Registration for the Paint El Paseo Pink walk is open for a $35 fee and includes a pink commemorative t-shirt. Local groups can also form teams.

On the day of the event, a brief ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. at The Gardens on El Paseo with photo opportunities and welcoming remarks from event co-chairs, sponsors and the city of Palm Desert. Jo Hillyard is the event's grand marshall. Hillyard founded the 3D Access Fund at Eisenhower Health, which pays for 3D mammograms for patients whose insurance does not cover them.
The Palm Desert High School cheer teams will kick off the walk with a dance, and then a pace car and two sheriff's motorcycles will lead walkers down El Paseo starting at 8 a.m.

The walk is an approximate two-mile round trip.
El Paseo will be closed to vehicles, from Portola to Highway 74, from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Event organizers expect about 1,800 attendees of all ages, including many four-legged pets.
“Paint El Paseo Pink is such an inspirational event, and we are truly grateful to have so many participants, sponsors, and community supporters partake in it," said DCF Executive Director Eevet Edens. "The goal is to raise cancer awareness and funds for our program; both critical and ongoing needs in our community."
