Rollover Crash Deemed Suspected DUI

The 36-year-old driver from Indio was arrested after the Saturday incident, which included hitting a power pole, officials said.

LA QUINTA, CA — A vehicle being driven by a suspected drunk driver smashed into a power pole and flipped over multiple times in La Quinta, sheriff's officials said Sunday.

The crash was reported at 2:20 a.m. Saturday at Calle Tecate and Avenida Bermudas, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said the 36-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle while trying to make a southbound turn onto Avenida Bermudas and instead ended up striking a power pole, said Sgt. Chris Macken.

The vehicle then flipped numerous times and came to rest in a parking area.

Alfonso Estrada of Indio was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after receiving precautionary medical treatment.

The crash caused a temporary power outage in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood.
