SCPGA Names Golf Professional Of The Year At Rancho Mirage Meeting

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — The Southern California PGA held its 99th Annual Meeting Monday at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, naming the SCPGA Golf Professional of the Year.

The group celebrated the 2023 Section Award Winners, naming Todd Keefer, PGA of Los Posas Country Club in Camarillo, as the next Golf Pro of the Year.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Dave Marr III of PGA TOUR Radio.

Others lauded at the annual meeting included Teacher & Coach of the Year, Josh Alpert, PGA (Good Swings Happen - El Segundo), Clubfitter of the Year, David Anderson, PGA (KBS Golf Experience - Vista), Assistant Golf Professional of the Year, Justin Hight, PGA (Santa Barbara Golf Club - Santa Barbara), Bill Strausbaugh Award, Rick Rielly, PGA (Wilshire Country Club - Los Angeles), Player Development Award, Heather King, PGA (Miramar Memorial Golf Course - San Diego), Tom Addis III Professional Development Award, Randy Chang, PGA (The Journey at Pechanga - Temecula), Youth Player Development Award, Mitch Stout, PGA (Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club - Rancho Santa Fe), Private Merchandiser of the Year, Clayton Moe, PGA (Stone Eagle Golf Club - Palm Desert), Resort Merchandiser of the Year, Joseph Williams, PGA (Indian Wells Golf Resort - Indian Wells), Public Merchandiser of the Year, Aaron Castillo, PGA (Arrowood Golf Course - Oceanside), Honorary Life Member, Len Kennett, PGA (Life Member - Long Beach), Honorary Life Member, Susan Roll, PGA (Carlsbad Golf Center - Carlsbad), President's Award, Ross Fisher, PGA (Goose Creek Golf Club - Mira Loma).

The SCPGA Players of the Year included one of the tour's new favorites, Michael Block, PGA (Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club - Mission Viejo) - 2022's PGA Professional Player of the Year, Women's, Natalie Vivaldi, PGA (Emerald Isle Golf Course - Oceanside), Senior, Rick Garboski, PGA (Golf Development Complex - Moorpark), Women's Senior, Wendy Wisbon, PGA (Annandale Golf Club - Pasadena), Super Senior, Jon Fiedler, PGA (Los Posas Country Club - Camarillo), and Associate, Garrett Sapp, (San Gabriel Country Club - San Gabriel).

In other news, the elections for the SCPGA board of director positions included the reelection of Kimberly Falcone (La Jolla Country Club- La Jolla), and Tom Son (Arrowood Golf Course - Oceanside.)

Officers of the Board of Directors serving their second of a two-year term include: President Eric Lohman, PGA (Monarch Beach Golf Links - Dana Point), Vice President Dr. Alison Curdt, PGA (Wood Ranch Golf Club - Simi Valley), Secretary John Kulow, PGA (South Hills Country Club - West Covina), Honorary President Robin Shelton, PGA (Newport Beach Country Club - Newport Beach).
