Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic for Seniors Offered in Rancho Mirage
The City of Rancho Mirage is holding the October 19 clinic in conjunction with Eisenhower Urgent Care.

From the City of Rancho Mirage:
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA - The City of Rancho Mirage, in partnership with Eisenhower Urgent Care, will hold a free seasonal flu shot clinic for Rancho Mirage seniors on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Community Room at the Rancho Mirage Public Library located at 71-100 Highway 111. The flu shots will be provided at no cost to Rancho Mirage seniors. No appointment is necessary.
Flu viruses are always changing. Each year's flu vaccine is made to protect against 3 or 4 viruses that are likely to cause disease that year. The flu vaccine cannot prevent all cases of flu, but it is the best defense against the disease. All the influenza viruses in a flu shot are inactive, so it is not possible to get the flu from the vaccine. Protection develops approximately two weeks after receiving the shot and may last up to one year.

The free seasonal flu shots will be available to qualified Rancho Mirage senior citizens on a first-come first-served basis. Senior citizens must be at least 60 years old and live in the Rancho Mirage. Senior citizens must provide a state issued photo identification card (e.g. driver's license or state id) to prove their age and residency. If the address on the identification does not show Rancho Mirage on the address, a current utility bill or similar instrument may be used as a substitute proof of residency. Rancho Mirage seniors are also eligible for free flu shots at the Joslyn Center on October 28th from 9:00 a.m. to noon as part of their Health Fair and the City's funding for the Joslyn Center.
