PALM DESERT, CA — A fire that spread through tamarisk trees near Palm Desert Wednesday morning remains under investigation.

The blaze was reported before dawn in the 79000 block of Country Club Drive, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire was contained at 5:59 a.m. to a total of 771 linear feet of tamarisk trees — approximately 1 acre, the agency said.
