Traffic Delays In Palm Desert, Cathedral City Expected Wednesday

The anticipated delays will take place in the morning hours.

PALM DESERT, CA — Traffic restrictions and street lane closures are planned Wednesday in Palm Desert and Cathedral City as part of sanitation work being performed by Coachella Valley Water District crews.

The agency announced that starting at about 12:30 a.m. and continuing until about 9 a.m. on Oct. 6, the work will take place at:

  • At the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert, two southbound lanes on Monterey Avenue will be closed and traffic will be merged into a remaining lane. A northbound turning lane onto Fred Waring will be closed. One lane on Fred Waring Drive will be merged into another lane.
  • At the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and San Anselmo Avenue in Palm Desert, the Fred Waring westbound turning lane at San Anselmo Avenue will be closed.
  • At the intersection of Portola Avenue and Alessandro Drive in Palm Desert, a southbound lane on Portola Avenue will be closed and traffic will be merged into another lane.
  • At the intersection of Cook Street and Country Club Drive in Palm Desert, the Cook Street southbound turning lane at Country Club Drive will be closed.
  • At the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Corral Road in Cathedral City, a southbound lane on Date Palm Drive will be closed and traffic will be merged into another lane.
  • On Cathedral Canyon Drive in Cathedral City, a turning lane will be closed south of Dinah Shore Drive.

Traffic restrictions will be marked with cones and signs, according to CVWD.

Drivers are asked to avoid the impacted areas when possible and to use caution in the area.

No water service disruptions are anticipated during the work, CVWD said.
