Veteran Edward G. Johnson To Be Honored At RivCo Fair
Edward G. Johnson, a veteran of the Vietnam war, will be honored at the upcoming 2018 RivCo Fair.

PALM DESERT, CA - From The County of Riverside: Vietnam War veteran, Edward G. Johnson will be honored on the Pageant Stage Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m. during the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival.
Mr. Johnson enlisted into the U.S. Army at age 19 from 1967 to 1970. He completed one combat tour in Vietnam from September 1967 to September 1968. Mr. Johnson was awarded the Military Order of Purple Heart for an injury received on January 1, 1968 at 20 years of age. In 2011, he raised $10,000 to bring the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Moving Wall to Desert Hot Springs for the first time. Mr. Johnson dedicated the first POW/MIA flag to Desert Hot Springs Memorial Park in 2012. On December 5, 2017, the park was renamed to Desert Hot Springs Veterans Park due to his efforts.
Fourth District County of Riverside Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, Mayor Glenn Miller, City of Indio and Mayor Scott Matas, City of Desert Hot Springs will join the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival Board on the Pageant State at 6 pm for a special presentation.

The Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the desert's leader in gaming and entertainment. The Fair, in Indio, runs February 16-25. Gates are open 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. from Friday-Monday and noon-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.
