Wildflower Fest, First Friday, Sunday Sounds: PD First Weekend

The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival will be held on Saturday, March 3. Events are scheduled throughout the weekend.

From FG Creative: Every Spring the wildflowers bloom in the Coachella Valley and the 11th Annual Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival is the best place to enjoy all that Spring has to offer. The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival is a City of Palm Desert First Weekend Featured Event and is hosted by Friends of the Desert Mountains. The event will be held on Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center in Palm Desert. The day of the event, shuttles will run from St. Margaret’s Church on Highway 74, as there is no onsite parking for the Wildflower Festival.

In addition to wildflower viewing, this free-to-attend event offers beautiful art, a Kids’ Zone, and a climbing wall. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Guided interpretive wildflower hikes will begin at 9:15 AM and continue every 15 minutes until 2pm. A 5k run/walk will begin at 8:30 AM, with registration beginning at 8 AM. To sign up go here.

The Arrangements will be performing in the beer and wine garden from 12- 3:30 PM. The festival also includes raffles, vendors and exhibitors.

First Friday at The Galen: If you enjoy the Arts, You won’t want to miss the First Friday celebration at the Galen, where the Palm Springs Art Museum is offering live music in the outdoor Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden. In conjunction with the First Weekend Palm Desert, the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert hosts games and crafts throughout the day for families to enjoy in the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden. A themed craft area will be introduced in the Annette Bloch Education Center in The Galen where children will create DIY craft projects with Coachella Valley Art Scene. In addition, there will be a craft activity provided by S.C.R.A.P. Gallery in the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and a docent led tour of the current exhibit at The Galen at 2:00 pm

The Gardens 20th Annual Concert Series

This 1-hour concert by The Smooth Brothers benefiting Desert Aids Project will be performed on the Center Lawn of The Gardens on El Paseo from 6-7pm, with ticket sales and wine reception preceding the concert. A $15 ticket purchase helps benefit local charities, and includes 2 glasses of wine and lite bites.

Tickets go on sale at 4:30pm the day of the concert.Wine service starts at 5:15pm, with entertainment beginning at 6pm.
