Xavier Prep Students Get $6.3m In Scholarships
XCP graduating seniors are finding out that hard work does pay; especially in a classroom setting.

More than $6.3 million dollars has been awarded in local and college scholarships to Xavier College Preparatory Seniors for next year. These are in addition to funds provided by the Cal Grant and FAFSA programs.
Xavier Prep’s graduating class of 2012 is the third graduating class in the school’s history, with 83 students. Approximately 25% are the first in their families to attend college. The current senior class has 328 college acceptances from top universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Boston College, Duke University, Johns Hopkins and many others.
“Xavier students are being rewarded not only with acceptance into the most competitive institutions in the country, the are recieving moentary incentive to attend,” said Jennifer Baker, Xavier Prep Counselor. “ With the average merit award for our seniors being $75,000 per student, we truly see hard work paying off.”

The individual scholarships range from $750 to $227,000 over four years.
In 2011, the average cost of attending a 4-year public college or university was $7,605, while the cost of tuition at a 4-year private college of university exceeded $27,000 per year.
