Instructors emphasize empowerment and emotional benefits, while participants say the classes boost both physical health and self-esteem, making dance an appealing alternative to traditional workouts for Palm Springs-area residents.

Alien: Marcus Xavier Chormicle (southwestcontemporary.com) — An Indigenous photographer with Agua Caliente roots is using a long-term project in Séc-he, the Cahuilla name for Palm Springs, to reclaim how his family's ancestral lands are seen. By installing large photo panels on his uncle's allotment within the Agua Caliente Reservation, which interlocks with downtown Palm Springs, he centers Native perspectives, sovereignty, and generational ties to the local landscape.
