• Pet photo contest to raise funds for Coachella Valley animal care (desertsun.com) — Local pet lovers can enter the Pet Star Photo Contest through Sept. 30 to support Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies, which runs the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and other valley facilities. A $25 entry fee and $1‑per‑vote online voting will help raise $20,000 for homeless pets, injured wildlife, and services for Coachella Valley pet owners.
