Windblown Dust Advisory In Effect Until Friday In Palm Springs
The Coachella Valley has experienced poor air quality levels throughout most of the week.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — A windblown dust advisory remained in effect until midnight with gusts up to 50 miles per hour expected in the Coachella Valley on Thursday.
The advisory was originally issued from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Thursday until the agency extended it on Wednesday, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
The windblown dust advisory impacts the Coachella Valley, including Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, and Palm Springs. Air quality on Thursday morning was rated as very unhealthy by South Coast AQMD.

The Coachella Valley has experienced poor air quality levels throughout most of the week. Northern Cathedral City's air quality levels were considered hazardous on Tuesday and Wednesday and unhealthy levels were reached in Indio and Mecca on Tuesday.
Residents near the affected areas were advised to limit going outside and to keep windows and doors closed, or to find shelter. They were also urged to avoid rigorous physical activity and to run air conditioning, and/or an air purifier.
