7th Annual Palo Alto World Music Day

The Palo Alto Recreation Foundation and City of Palo Alto proudly present the 7th Annual Palo Alto World Music Day on Sunday, June 21st from 3 to 7:30 pm. University Avenue will be closed to traffic to provide a festive atmosphere of music festivities for the entire family.
There’s music for everyone on this traditional Dad’s and Grad’s Day. Over 60 professional and amateur musical groups will perform works from around the world including classical, jazz, rock, marimbas, choral, original works from singer/songwriters, children’s music, Punjabi, French, Balkan, African, Funk and Rock and Roll. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Some highlights from the 2014 World Music Day included the Palo Alto Jazz Quintet, Master percussionist, songwriter and producer James Henry and Hands on Fire; West African Hobby Drummers, Drumming Fun; Rock and Roll bands Acoustic Son, Grounds for Dismissal and TClemente Band as well as award winning singer/songwriters Karl McHugh and Tracy Shaun. Returning musicians included the talented harpist and flutist Wind in the Strings, Punjabi Folk Dancers from the Bhangra Dance Studio and the opera performer Catherine Vincenti. Numerous children’s groups performed including the Joanna Finnis Singing School presenting Broadway to pop; The Ling-U Music Education Foundation demonstrating Bach to modern on Marimbas and the School of Rock Summer Rock Camp entertained the crowds with Jazz/Funk and Rock.

Palo Alto World Music Day is free and open to all. University Avenue will be closed to traffic. There are 18 locations for music with three performances in each location throughout the afternoon.
