Alert Citizen Thwarts Alleged Attempted Robber's Escape in Nearby San Mateo
The suspect reportedly was trying to steal a bicycle from its owner. A female was arrested, as well, on warrants and other charges.

SAN MATEO, CA – Police in San Mateo on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with the attempted robbery of a bicycle.
Isaak Torres Figueroa, 23, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
Officers responded Tuesday at 11:49 a.m. to a report of a physical fight involving two men in the parking lot of Hassett Ace Hardware at 545 Fist Ave.

Police said a suspect, later identified as Figueroa, attempted to steal a bicycle from the victim, and a struggle ensued.
Figueroa fled the scene, but a witness -- an alert citizen -- directed officers to a "suspicious man" hiding in a vehicle, and Figueroa was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the attempted robbery.
A woman, identified as Adriana Melchorleon, 25, was contacted with Figueroa and was arrested on drug-related warrants and on suspicion of possession of stolen property and forgery, police said.
Police said it does not appear she was involved in the attempted robbery.
