Avenidas and La Comida to host foodie fundraiser to support older adults (paloaltoonline.com) β€” Palo Alto nonprofits Avenidas and La Comida are teaming up for the Flavors of Palo Alto fundraiser at Mitchell Park Community Center on Sept. 24 to support local senior programs. With bites from more than a dozen restaurants, the $125 event aims to replace lost funding and expand services that combat loneliness and provide daily meals to older residents.

Housing project near JCC faces community pushback (paloaltoonline.com) β€” A large 273-unit housing project at 3997 Fabian Way in south Palo Alto is drawing strong opposition from neighbors at the Oshman Family JCC and Moldaw Residences, who cite safety, privacy and traffic concerns. City officials say state housing laws and a backup builder's remedy proposal sharply limit their power to change or block the development, though health and safety findings could still affect the final decision.
