• No. 11 Spartans Rally Past No. 8 Princeton in Down to the Wire Match (sjsuspartans.com) — A top-25 men's water polo showdown came right to Palo Alto's Avery Aquatic Center, where San José State stunned No. 8 Princeton with a last-second game-winner in the MPSF Invite. The Spartans rallied from behind to win 14–12 and now face powerhouse USC next, keeping high-level collegiate water polo action in town for local fans.
• Well-preserved tooth from Pacific mastodon found in a creek in San Francisco Bay Area (kcra.com) — A well-preserved Pacific mastodon tooth discovered in a San Mateo County open space preserve has been donated to Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability in Palo Alto, where it's now being studied. Researchers say the nine-inch fossil, found during frog habitat restoration work, highlights both the region's ancient history and the importance of protecting local open spaces.
