Today's riddle: What has a cap but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Volunteer With La Comida (aarp.org) — Local seniors in Palo Alto can get weekday lunches and social connection through La Comida de California, which is now seeking volunteers at its Stevenson House and downtown Bryant Street sites. If you're free around midday, you can help greet guests, serve meals, and support light setup and cleanup while building a stronger community for older neighbors.
2. Juniors left out of parking priority due to Paly construction (thecampanile.org) — Palo Alto High School has cut student parking spaces this semester due to Churchill Avenue construction, giving seniors priority and likely forcing juniors into a lottery for remaining spots. Students say the $120 permits and limited spaces may push more drivers into nearby neighborhoods or risk tickets. Administrators insist prioritizing seniors is necessary while they monitor parking patterns and await construction progress.
3. Willow Road high-rise developer N17 files lawsuit against Menlo Park (paloaltoonline.com) — A massive Willow Park high‑rise and housing project on the Palo Alto–Menlo Park border has now triggered a lawsuit, with developer N17 accusing Menlo Park of illegally blocking the plan. City leaders warn the legal fight over this 665‑unit, 39‑story proposal could strain Menlo Park's budget and services, while state officials and a local congressman scrutinize both housing law compliance and the project's ownership ties.
4. Vaishali Sirkay: Supporting student mental health and wellbeing (mv-voice.com) — Los Altos school board incumbent Vaishali "Shali" Sirkay defends a recent decision to give up most of the district's stake in 18 apartments at a Palo Alto employee housing complex, saying many units sat vacant. She's seeking another term focused on student mental health, strong teacher pay, and a smoother relationship with Bullis Charter School—issues that affect families across Los Altos, Mountain View, and nearby Palo Alto.
