Apple Store Quiet on iPhone 5 Pre-order Day

Most consumers got the word that the only way to pre-order an Apple iPhone 5 was online. Orders opened up at midnight and on the official Apple site, meaning that shoppers determined to grab the newest techie device will have to head to their nearest Apple store on Sept. 21 to grab their phones.

At Apple’s store in Stanford Shopping Center Friday morning, the largest crowd gathered around iPads rather than iPhones.

One store employee gushed about the iPhone 5, calling himself a big fan. He said that customers were asking plenty of questions about the device.
