City Green-Lights Controversial AT&T Cell Antennas

Cell service expansion received final approval last week.

The frustrations of AT&T cell phone users in Palo Alto may soon be coming to an end.

The Daily News reports that final approval has been granted to AT&T to begin installing their throughout Palo Alto.

The service has been the subject of vociferous public response, both in favor and against the proposal.

Supporters say AT&T service in the area is dismal, and that the new antennas won't visually detract from neighborhoods because they'll be mounted to existing telephone poles.

Opponents, however, have expressed , and have organized a citizen's group, Palo Alto Citizens for Responsible Wireless Communications, to fight the plan. They have until December 30 to file an appeal.
