PALO ALTO, CA — A “Black Lives Matter” sign in a Palo Alto resident’s yard was vandalized last week, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
The word “Black” in the sign was covered and replaced with the word “Asian.” The resident, a woman in her 60s, told police that the sign was vandalized sometime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 5.
This was the third time the sign was tampered with since last October, the resident told police. In the other two instances, an “Asian Lives Matter” sign was slipped over the sign.
