Acterra’s Youth Education Program offers free teacher training workshops designed to be engaging and interactive. This year, we’ll be closing out Earth Month with a solutions-focused, hands-on curriculum exploring renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs).
During the workshop, educators will explore climate change fundamentals, learn about the benefits of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs), and engage in interactive activities they can bring directly into their classrooms. The goal is to equip teachers with tools and confidence to help students understand clean energy solutions and consider choosing a ZEV as their first car when possible.

Meet the Artist Days: Sunday, May 3rd&nbsp;and Sunday, May 10th&nbsp;11am-5pmViewpoints Gallery is excited to present “The Ethereal Coast: A Study in Mist and Light,” a collection of breathtaking new landscapes by Bay Area artist Caroline McClinitic.&nbsp;This brilliant new series captures the shifting, atmospheric beauty of the California coastline, where the land meets the Pacific under a heavy veil of marine layer. The series moves away from high-contrast sunshine, focusing instead on the soft, diffused textures that define the region's more contemplative moods. Many pieces use texture medium and collage to mimic the tactile elements of the rugged coast. These breathtaking studies of light and air highlight Caroline’s captivating and unique style, which incorporates the organic grain of the wood panel base to perfectly capture the soft flow of wind, fog and water.&nbsp;
Caroline’s award-winning works capture the essence of the San Francisco Bay Area, from her elegant urban cityscapes to her soulful landscapes that perfectly capture the beauty of the Bay Area. “I love the ethereal&nbsp;beauty of the rugged California coast,” says Caroline. “I enjoy infusing paintings with textured layers, from the natural grain of the stained wood panel to the rough textures of rocks and foliage.” Caroline’s new collection masterfully captures the exquisite charm of the California coast’s fog shrouded summers, giving viewers a fresh perspective of some of the Bay Area’s most beloved vistas.

As part of this rare opportunity to view their artwork in California, the gallery has produced two original short films about each artist's unique voice and fascinating personal story.The films (Zauq: The World of Laxma Goud, and Thota Vaikuntam: The Making of the Telangana Woman) will premiere on Friday, May 1st during the exhibition's opening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Additional screenings will be held on Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd at 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM, during the exhibition's viewing hours of 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. The screenings and exhibition are free and open to the public.One of India's most distinguished contemporary artists, LAXMA GOUD is celebrated for his masterful line work and evocative explorations of rural life and intimacy. In 2016, Goud received the Padma Shri, a prestigious civilian award presented by the President of India, for his contributions to fine art. Just in time for Mother's Day, Gamble Garden is hosting a hands-on spring floral design workshop led by master arranger Katherine Glazier. A holder of a European Master Certification and a Teacher's Diploma in the Sogetsu school of Ikebana, Katherine co-led the floral design program at Filoli for eight years and exhibits annually at Bouquets to Art at the de Young Museum.
Participants will create a lush spring arrangement — roses paired with seasonal blooms and unique textural elements — to take home. Katherine guides attendees through every step of the design process and shares expert tips for keeping arrangements fresh long after class ends.
No prior experience needed and all materials are provided. Participants are asked to bring their own sturdy floral clippers. Open to teens and adults.
