First Senior Living Community in Palo Alto to Install Car Charging Stations

Some seniors might happily embrace the popular car-sharing trend, but others understandably still place a high value on having their own set of wheels. Increasingly, their vehicles might be powered not by gas but electricity — a fact that led Moldaw Residences to install an on-site car charging station, making them the only senior living community in Palo Alto that has the amenity.
California continues to lead the way on electric vehicles and is set to exceed the goal of 1.5 million electric cars on the road by 2025. A group of Moldaw residents own electric cars and have had difficulties charging them at the community. Manny Lopez, maintenance director at Moldaw, took initiative and started the process to install 2 charging stations at the community.
The stations were installed by Charge Point and the first vehicle was all juiced up in under an hour.

“Not only does this benefit the current residents, it will benefit our future residents,” said Lopez. “Some residents are even interested in buying electric cars now that we have the charging stations.”
Moldaw is leading the senior living industry in thinking of innovative ways to benefit their residents. Being the first senior living community in Palo Alto and one of few in the country to offer this amenity, the community is setting an example to not only be environmentally friendly, but to also listen to the wants and needs of residents.
