Each of the previous General Plan workshops last fall focused on one or more significant community topics, providing an opportunity for all segments of East Palo Alto’s community to help shape the future of the City. Now, the City invites community members to attend this early- 2015 workshop and contribute their ideas, opinions, and feedback about the General Plan Update.

To help determine how community members feel about various issues facing the City, a short survey is online at http://vista2035epa.org and available at workshops.

The survey asks about quality of life, priorities for development, top issues facing the City, and more.

The East Palo Alto General Plan, which is expected to be completed in late 2015, is the document establishing policies, goals, and programs for the long-term physical development of the community; it is a guideline or “blueprint” for implementing the community’s vision for what
residents and other stakeholders want the City to be for future generations.

This critical policy document, required by State law, will replace the 1999 General Plan that was adopted as an update to the City’s first General Plan, which was completed in 1986.

East Palo Alto is San Mateo County’s youngest city, having been incorporated in 1983. It’s a strong, diverse community centrally located on the beautiful San Francisco Peninsula adjacent to the Bay.

The City enjoys some of the best weather in the area, is an affordable, emerging site for new businesses, and is convenient to transit, freeways, airports, and many Bay Area attractions and destinations.
