Electrical Cord Caused Backyard Fire At Palo Alto Home: Official

Breaking: Palo Alto fire officials now attribute Tuesday's fire to a pinched electrical cord.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- Fire investigators believe a one-alarm blaze that broke out Tuesday morning in Palo Alto's Ventura neighborhood started with a pinched electrical cord, fire officials said.

The cord was leading from a home in the 400 block of Fernando Avenue, near Boulware Park and Matadero Creek off of El Camino Real, to a shed in the backyard, where it was pinched, Palo Alto Deputy Fire Chief
Catherine Capriles said.

The shed contained spray cans and a gallon of gasoline, causing the fire to spread to a tree and a fence nearby.
