Share the joy of Ramadan with an Ifatr dinner at Samina Sundas's home.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The Holy book of Muslims, Quran was sent down from heaven as guidance for men and also as a direction and a means to Salvation during Ramadan. For entire month, Muslims fast with no water and food during the daytime. Muslims have food only before the sunrises and after the sunsets. The day starts with eating of the suhoor. Suhoor is the meal eaten by the Muslims who fast before the sun raises. In the evening when the sun sets then they have another meal called Iftar. To open the fast they pray and have Iftar meal with family and friends.
The American Muslim Voice Foundation was founded in 2003 by American Muslims to work for and with all Americans. We work with all Muslim, multi-faith, community organizations/groups and individuals that share our vision of a peaceful, harmonious and inclusive world. We deeply believe in fostering friendships among all Americans by bridging the cultural and religious gap. Every day we promote new relationships and nurture the old ones because our country's safety, security and peace depends on our getting to know each other. We will continue our quest to build an inclusive and beloved world, where all of us will feel safe and at home.
