Voices of Music with Elizabeth Blumenstock

The Art of the Baroque Violin

Voices of Music showcases the sparkling genius of beloved baroque violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock on its Great Artist Series, 2011-2012. SFCV.org called Blumenstock’s playing, “lithe of bow, zingy of articulation, crisp of trills, dauntless and dashing in passagework.” She joins William Skeen on viola da gamba, and co-directors Hanneke van Proosdij on harpsichord, organ and recorder and David Tayler on archlute in a wonderfully varied program of music from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Program: Violin sonatas and trio sonatas by Castello, Schmelzer, Biber and Leclair. Bach's partita BWV 1002 for solo violin; lute work by Ferrabosco, solo gamba pieces by Marin Marais.
