Expect Heavy Traffic For MLS Game At Stanford Stadium: Palo Alto Police

Breaking: Some 50,000 people were expected to attend Saturday night's match.

PALO ALTO, CA -- Heavy traffic is expected Saturday night in the vicinity of Stanford Stadium because of the major league soccer game between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Los Angeles Galaxy, police said.

Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. and about 50,000 people are expected to show up. Heavy traffic is expected on Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, Sand Hill Road, Oregon Expressway and surrounding streets as a result, police said.

There will also be a short fireworks show after the game, so traffic in the area should be affected until well after 11 p.m., police said, and residents should plan accordingly.
