Former Secretary of State Albright in Palo Alto Friday

She will speak Friday night at the Oshman Family JCC.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is in the Bay Area today and Friday to discuss a recently released book she wrote on her
formative years during World War II and the start of the Cold War.

Albright, 75, was appointed by President Bill Clinton as the first-ever female Secretary of State and, at the time, was the highest-ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government.

She will begin her tour of the Bay Area at a 7 p.m. event at Dominican University in San Rafael, followed by two events hosted by the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco and Palo Alto on Friday.

Albright will discuss her 2012 book "Prague Winter: A Personal Story of Remembrance and War," an autobiography about her family's struggles
to survive during World War II and the fate of her native Czechoslovakia
under Nazi rule.

Albright's San Francisco appearance is scheduled for noon Friday at the Fairmont Hotel. She will also appear at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo
Alto at 7 p.m. The Palo Alto event is sold out.

More information about Albright's appearances can be found on the
Commonwealth Club's website at www.commonwealthclub.org.
