Go Green, Palo Alto: Upcoming Family Expo Will Help!

The free event on Aug. 30 is intended for the whole family!

News from the city of Palo Alto:

Project Enybody, a City of Palo Alto sponsored teen group, is hosting GreenFest - a one-of-a-kind family expo focusing on the simple ways families can go green. The free event will take place Sunday, August 30 at the Mitchell Park Community Center from 2-5 p.m.

Through interactive activities and displays, teens, families and community members will learn from leading environmentalists about the simple ways to conserve in their daily lives. The event focuses on three main environmental areas: food, water and transportation. Topics range from packing greener lunches to Palo Alto’s water source and restrictions.

A discussion panel comprised of environmental experts will begin at 3 p.m., including Peter Drekmeier, former Palo Alto Mayor and Director of Tuolomne River Trust, and Kevin Carly and Karla Dailey from Palo Alto Public Works.

Other activities include a scavenger hunt and bin-sorting relay race, with the chance to win prizes. Live music from local bands, free ice cream and healthy food samples from Downtown Palo Alto Farmers’ Market will also be provided.

Project Enybody President William Zhou states, “Our goal is to have families walk away with something they can implement immediately to make their daily lives greener. But we also want families to have fun and bond while learning.”

GreenFest is sponsored by the following organizations: City of Palo Alto, Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, LunchBots, Palo Alto Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee, Canopy, Downtown Palo Alto Farmers’ Market, Mike’s Bikes, Grocery Outlet, Acterra, Zero Waste, and Cream.

About Project Enybody

Project Enybody is a City of Palo Alto sponsored teen group through the Bryant Street Garage Fund Program. The group focuses on raising awareness of environmental issues and combating climate change through various events, promotional campaigns, and educational projects. The group is comprised of high school students who meet throughout the academic school year.
