Heads Up, Palo Alto: Upcoming Closings On Embarcadero Road Underpass

PALO ALTO, CA – The Embarcadero Road underpass at Alma Street will be closed overnight for eight nights starting tonight. Detours will be in place in Palo Alto, according to officials.

The closure will occur overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 and again on the nights of Dec. 5-8.

The City's Public Works Department needs to clean out accumulated bird feces and then install bird netting in the underpass below the railroad tracks. The underpass needs to be shut down so that crews can safely work in and around the roadway, officials said.

If you typically use that route in your nighttime travels, the Palo alto Police Department recommends you allow extra time to detour down University Avenue or Churchill Avenue, or take an alternate route.
