The case was reported last year and not properly investigated, according to law enforcement.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has started a formal administrative investigation into the mishandling of an incident involving a Millbrae teacher and student.
According to sheriff's officials, two reports of an alleged sexual relationship between a teacher and an underage female student were reported last year and not investigated as expected.
Sheriff's officials said the investigation was reviewed once in October 2015 and once in February of this year, however, they determined it was not conducted in a timely manner.
